Mario set to hit free agency next week

By Ohm Youngmisuk

Mario Manningham says there has been no progress made between his camp and the Giants on a new contract and he is set to hit free agency next week as expected.

Appearing in Times Square at the screening of the official New York Giants championship DVD, Manningham reiterated he wants to remain a Giant.

"I don’t want to go nowhere," Manningham said. "But if it is somewhere else, that is where my path continues. I want to come back. I can't wait to see what is going on, am I going to be here or not. I want to be here."

Manningham has been saying that he wants to remain a Giant after he was quoted in an Ohio newspaper saying there was a 75-percent chance he was leaving in free agency. Manningham, one of the Giants 20 unrestricted free agents, is looking to capitalize on his big postseason performance and surely would like a bigger role.

"Yeah," he said when asked if he views himself as a top wide receiver and thinks a team will be willing to pay him as such as well. "It’s a business. You got to look at it like that too. Their [the Giants] decision might come down to... you never know. You got to look out for your family. That is how it is."

"I want to be here," he added. "Because I feel like we [Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz and Manningham] can do a lot of damage in these next four to five years. That is just how I feel. We are all young. It is not up to me. I want to stay."
