Injury report: Beatty still out
By Ohm Youngmisuk
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Left tackle Will Beatty continues to be sidelined by a troublesome back injury.
"Beatty's still struggling," Tom Coughlin said.
Sean Locklear has been practicing and playing in Beatty's spot at left tackle, but the Giants are considering options like moving David Diehl back to left tackle and perhaps starting Locklear or James Brewer at right tackle in case Beatty is out for a while. But Coughlin said the team is still operating with the expectation that Beatty will return at some point soon.
"There's going to have to be flexibility," Coughlin said. "Whether Sean plays left or right, or whether David Diehl plays left or right, or that type of thing. We obviously expect and live in expectation that Beatty will come back to the practice field unless something would happen otherwise. We're getting close (to the season) and those five guys need to play a lot together."
Coughlin said cornerback Jayron Hosley, who was still in a protective walking boot due to turf toe, is still sore and trying to keep off his right foot. Defensive tackle Marvin Austin (back) is improving.
"Marvin seems to be getting better and I think there’s a question of the type of the medication that he's on and whether or not he can practice under that circumstance," Coughlin said. "Hopefully there will be more clarity about that situation."
Running back Ahmad Bradshaw (bruised hand) did some limited work in practice with a wrap on his right hand. Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks (toe) and linebacker Jacquian Williams (hip) returned to practice for the first time in weeks. And linebacker Mark Herzlich (hip pointer) practiced as well.
