Injury report: Nicks a little sore
By Ohm Youngmisuk
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Hakeem Nicks said he came out of Wednesday's opener feeling good and, as expected, just a little sore.
"The main thing is I finished the game, played tough," Nicks said. "I felt it at times in certain routes, but it wasn’t nothing that held me from playing in the game or coming out the game. It was maintainable. It wasn’t excruciating pain or it wasn’t extremely bad, but I maintained it and fought through it and finished the game."
Nicks had four catches for 38 yards on six targets. He said he expects to feel some discomfort in his surgically-repaired foot for a bit more time before he is able to return back to normal.
"I feel like once I get in the swing of things, I could do a little more," Nicks said when asked if he felt like his old self on Wednesday night at any point. "Right now, it’s been a short training camp for me. Limited myself on the field and not being able to practice as much as I want to, but it’s a matter of maintaining and not prolonging this foot injury, so I’m all for that. I’m sure I’ll be myself here in about another game or two, but it’s just a matter of me playing and getting through it."
Linebackers injuries: Head coach Tom Coughlin thinks linebacker Keith Rivers will be able to play next week through a hamstring injury. He was troubled by a hamstring issue on Wednesday night after an impressive start in the game.
Linebacker Michael Boley said his hamstring felt fine after playing against the Cowboys. And linebacker Chase Blackburn said he suffered a stinger that briefly forced him out of the game late. He said he is fine.
