Pre-practice injury report: Nicks rests
By Ohm Youngmisuk
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks sat out the early portion of practice open to the media.
Nicks has been resting his surgically-repaired foot during practices and this could be another instance where he is taking it easy but will play. He did not practice for two straight days before playing against the Cowboys last week.
Cornerback Prince Amukamara did practice on Wednesday but it remains to be seen how much he will do. The team will release its injury report later in the day.
Head coach Tom Coughlin said before practice that Amukamara will likely not go through a full practice. Amukamara did some work on Monday and is hoping to return from a high ankle sprain on Sunday. He has been out since Aug. 24.
Linebacker Keith Rivers (hamstring) is expected to go through a limited practice today. Coughlin has said he expects Rivers to play through the ailment. Center David Baas is a new addition to the injury report. He has a hip issue but Coughlin did not sound too concerned about it.
Left tackle Will Beatty is not on the injury report. Coughlin said Beatty will continue to the amount of snaps the team has been giving him as he makes his way back into shape after missing most of OTAs, minicamp and training camp with a back issue. Coughlin would not say whether Beatty will start at left tackle if healthy and ready.
Offensive tackle James Brewer (back), cornerback Michael Coe (hamstring), defensive end Adewale Ojomo (hamstring) and running back Da'Rel Scott (knee) are also listed on the pre-practice injury report. Ojomo was on the side at the start of practice.
We'll have an update on today's practice and the injury report later in the day.
