Tynes nabs weekly special-teams honor
By Ohm Youngmisuk
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Lawrence Tynes was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for knocking in a career-high five field goals against Carolina last Thursday.
Tynes scored half of the Giants' points in their victory. He hit from 47, 49, 30, 36 and 37 yards out. He is the seventh Giant to kick at least five field goals in a game. Joe Danelo owns the team record of six, set at Seattle on Oct. 18, 1981.
Tynes has won Player of the Week three times during his career, twice while with Kansas City.
The Giants are on a roll with the weekly awards since Hakeem Nicks was NFC Offensive Player of the Week after the Tampa Bay game.
