And the wide receiver reports that his body is feeling good and there were no setbacks in his recovery from foot and knee problems.
"We got some good work in," Nicks told the Giants' website. "It was good for me to just get my feet back up under me a little bit and it was my first time running routes with Eli. So it was good. I feel good; there weren't any setbacks."
Nicks was one of the several Giants who attended the first day of the team's voluntary offseason workout program Monday.
The Giants started the offseason program with strength and conditioning and physical rehab. Nicks is making his way back from an injury-plagued 2012 season.
Nicks told the team website he has been running full speed for "a couple of weeks," which is a positive sign after laboring all of last season with pain first in his surgically repaired foot and then in his knee after injuring it in Week 2.
"I don't even look at it now," Nicks said of last season, when he had 53 receptions for 692 yards and three touchdowns. "It is gone now, so it is what it is –- it is in the past. It is something that I learned from. Every year in your career isn't going to be what you want it to be. So it is just about you adjust to it and make the best of it. But definitely I learned a lot from it. I feel like I grew."
Nicks took some positive steps toward a bounce-back season in 2013 by joining Manning, Victor Cruz and Louis Murphy last week at Duke University for workouts.
"It is always good to see him back healthy," Manning said. "He is still striving to get to 100 percent. Obviously, having a healthy Hakeem would definitely make our team much better."
