Steppin' to the AM: Cordle time
By Ohm Youngmisuk
Jim Cordle played the most snaps of any Giant on Sunday against the Colts.
The Giants clearly liked what they saw because they are moving forward with him as the starting center for now with David Baas and David Diehl out. Instead of moving Kevin Boothe to center and starting James Brewer at left guard and keeping Justin Pugh at right tackle, the Giants opted to go with Cordle and keep Boothe at left guard while Pugh remains at right tackle. Brewer remains an option in the lineup if Tom Coughlin thinks there needs to be a change.
But Cordle knows this is his big chance to show what he can do after playing in 25 games during his career as a backup and on special teams. Cordle has come on in relief and shown he can play guard as well.
"We've got some veterans and we've got some young guys that have been drafted behind me," Cordle said of showing what he can do this preseason. "I think these two [remaining preseason] games are definitely critical. They're definitely going to make or break me."
Cordle should see plenty of action against the Jets on Saturday.
