The New York Giants are officially eliminated from playoff contention, but at this point they are not planning to shut down injured defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul for the final three games of the season. That could happen if Pierre-Paul's shoulder injury doesn't show improvement, but Giants coach Tom Coughlin said on a conference call Monday that the team was still hopeful Pierre-Paul could play again this season, possibly Sunday against the Seahawks.

"JPP feels better, and as of last weekend the thought was that this week he would be perhaps in a position where he might be able to practice and prepare himself to play," Coughlin said. "That's the way the weekend was left, and I don't know anything different just now. But we will assess all of those circumstances."

Pierre-Paul has missed the past two games with a shoulder injury he suffered in a Week 10 victory against the Raiders. He played the following week and won the NFC Defensive Player of the Week Award for his performance in a victory against the Packers, but he played sparingly the following week against the Cowboys and has not played since.
