Giants to part ways with Bernard
By Ohm Youngmisuk
The Giants have been unsuccessful in trying to restructure Rocky Bernard's contract and will release the defensive tackle later this week according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Bernard's cap number was set to be $2.95 million in base salary for this season. In less than 24 hours, it appears they will have lost two defensive tackles as Barry Cofield agreed to terms with the Redskins overnight.
The Giants could be in the market for another veteran DT. The Giants do have Linval Joseph and Marvin Austin to go with Chris Canty. The Giants invested their last two second-round picks in Joseph and Austin. Austin, though, has not played in a year since he was serving a suspension last year at North Carolina.
