Several Giants not practicing Tuesday
By Mike Mazzeo
Several Giants did not practice during the media portion of the team’s only bye-week session Tuesday.
Justin Tuck: The defensive end continues to sit out with groin and neck injuries, but has said he expects to play against Miami in two weeks. Has missed the last the team’s last three games.
Osi Umenyiora: The defensive end likely sat out for precautionary reasons given his recent knee troubles and ensuing surgery.
Kenny Phillips: The safety suffered a rib strain against Buffalo last Sunday and got X-rays taken, but head coach Tom Coughlin said he’s fine.
Chris Snee: We’ll find out Tuesday whether the right guard passed his baseline concussion test. Did not play Sunday.
Brandon Jacobs: The running back was likely receiving treatment on his MCL sprain. Did not play Sunday.
Adam Koets: The versatile reserve offensive lineman, who is eligible to come off the physically unable to perform list, was nowhere to be found. The Giants have 21 days to practice him and decide whether they’re going to promote him to the active roster. Has missed all six games this season after having surgery on his torn ACL last November, 2010. Then had a scope done on the knee near the end of training camp this year.
Prince Amukamara: The cornerback was doing some minor drills on the side. He may make his NFL debut against Miami in two weeks, but it will more likely be the week after since he hasn't done anything. Has missed all six games this season after breaking his foot.
Henry Hynoski: The fullback, still recovering from a shoulder injury, was standing on the side during position drills. Missed Sunday’s game.
Ramses Barden: The wide receiver, on PUP, was also standing on the side. See Koets for details. Has missed all six games this season after undergoing offseason surgery.
Note: Since Barden and Koets did not practice, the 21-day window for them to be active has not begun. The window does not begin until they begin practicing.
