When asked about that possibility on Friday, Barden repeated the same line he’s been saying all week. This time, he couldn’t get through it with a straight face.
"There’s always a possibility (of playing)…. I've been preparing myself mentally and physically," he said.
Barden had just five receptions for 64 yards in three games last year but got significant playing time against Dallas last Nov. 14, responding with three catches for 34 yards before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.
He is not listed on the Giants injury report because he’s still on PUP. But he said he’d taken reps with the first team for the whole week with Nicks on the sideline.
BAAS HOLDING OUT HOPE: Giants C David Baas is still hoping that he can play on Sunday. He’s being listed as doubtful. He hasn’t practiced all week due to a bothersome knee injury. He said on Friday that he will test the injury Saturday. "That'll be our gauge," Baas said, adding, "If I can go, I'm going to go."
If Baas can’t go, look for Kevin Boothe to take his place at center.
