Steve Smith leaves practice with injury

By Ohm Youngmisuk

The injury bug continues to bite the New York Giants.

Wide receiver Steve Smith had to stop practicing with an injury. He was examined on the sideline before rejoining the team and watching practice from the side.

The team's top receiver is done practicing for the day and head coach Tom Coughlin will surely be asked after practice about Smith's condition.

Backup wide receiver Duke Calhoun also suffered an injury and left the field but returned from the locker room.

Rookie backup tight end Jake Ballard pulled up on a route and had to be examined on the sideline.

G Rich Seubert (hand), C Shaun O'Hara (ankle), TE Travis Beckum (hamstring), S Deon Grant (groin), S Kenny Phillips (knee), TE Kevin Boss (ankle) and G Kevin Boothe (pectoral) all did not practice.

I'll update after Coughlin speaks.
