Practice report: Mario leaves early

By Ian Begley

Plenty to report from the early portion of Giants practice on Thursday.

Ahmad Bradshaw (foot), Derrick Martin (hamstring) were both on the sideline, riding the bike. Will Beatty, who underwent surgery to repair a detached retina was, obviously, not out there this morning.

We should have an update on a timetable for Beatty later today.

Also on the offensive line, Kareem McKenzie was active during the early portion of practice. He missed Thursday's practice with a foot injury.

With Beatty out, guard David Diehl may slide over to tackle with Kevin Boothe replacing him at guard. We haven't heard any official word from the Giants on that as of yet.

WR Mario Manningham stretched with the team and appeared to take part in drills but walked off in the middle of the open portion of practice. It's unclear at this point why he left, but he sat out Thursday's practice with a knee injury.

Linebacker Michael Boley (hamstring) also stretched but did not take part in drills. Instead, he ran on the sideline.

Also, D.J. Ware (concussion) apparently has passed all of his concussion exams because he was out there and active on Friday after being limited on Thursday. If Bradshaw sits on Monday night, Ware and Da'Rell Scott will be counted on to spell Brandon Jacobs.

Justin Tuck (ankle/shoulder) sat out on Thursday but was active during the open portion. Osi Umenyiora, who was limited due to a knee injury, also appeared to be active early on.
