Early practice report: Most return to field
By Matt Ehalt
Here's the early practice report for the Giants on Friday. A handful of Giants practiced for the first time this week.
Safety Kenny Phillips (knee): Phillips was riding a stationary bike and then doing some work by himself off to the side but did not have on pads and was not practicing with the team. Phillips missed both Wednesday and Thursday's practice with his knee injury that he sustained against Green Bay. His status for Sunday's game is up in the air.
Wide receiver Mario Manningham (knee): Manningham was practicing on Friday during the portion open to the media. Manningham had limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday. Manningham has missed the last two games with his swollen knee but said that he would play against Dallas.
Center David Bass (neck/intense headaches): Baas was not on the field during the portion of practice open to the media. He has not practiced this week with his neck injury and intense headaches. All signs point to him missing his second straight game this weekend.
Linebacker Michael Boley (hamstring): Boley took reps on Friday during the portion of practice open to the media. Boley played Sunday against Green Bay but has missed Wednesday and Thursday with his hamstring injury that cost him two games.
Running back Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle): Bradshaw was practicing on Friday. He also played Sunday but did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. He is on a schedule where he only practices on Friday with his ankle injury.
Running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring): Jacobs was on the field for practice on Friday. Jacobs did not practice Wednesday or Thursday with his foot injury.
Linebacker Spencer Paysinger (hamstring): Paysinger was riding a stationary bike and doing some stretches in bike area during the portion open to the media. Paysinger missed both Wednesday and Thursday's practice with a hamstring injury and signs point to him being out.
Defensive end Osi Umenyiora (ankle/knee): Umenyiora was not practicing and has not practiced the last two weeks and it seems that he is almost a virtual certainty to be inactive for Sunday's game.
Cornerback Prince Amukamara (back): Amukamara was practicing on Friday. He practiced in a limited capacity on both Wednesday and Thursday with his knee injury.
Defensive end Dave Tollefson (knee): Tollefson was practicing on Friday. He was a surprise limited participant in practice on Thursday with a knee injury but said that he will play on Sunday.
Linebacker Mark Herzlich (ankle): Herzlich was not practicing and has not practiced since injuring himself against the Saints. He likely is out Sunday.
