Gerry Barcene was at the Giants' victory parade in blue, but the Yankees fan said he would have come if it had been the Jets too. "I'm a New York fan," he said.

The Port Richmond High School band got a chance to play on stage as the Giants transitioned from the floats to the stage set up in front of City Hall. Some fans will be allowed inside the park for a 1 p.m. ceremony, but most took their last pictures of the streaming paper and went to warm up.

The digital age didn't mean a lack of paper for the Giants' parade. People in buildings overlooking the parade route threw shredded paper, toilet paper and accounting paper from open windows. The wind picked it up and briefly sent it swirling. Before the team even got to City Hall, there was toilet paper stuck in trees and flying tangled from lamp posts.

The Giants have won four Super Bowl championships, but have had only two parades. In 1987, New York City mayor Ed Koch wouldn’t let the Giants have a parade because they moved to New Jersey. In 1991, the Giants didn’t have a parade due to the Gulf War.

The McIlwaine family left West Islip at 5:30 a.m. in order to grab a prime spot on Broadway in front of City Hall for the Giants parade. It is their son Nick's 8th birthday, and his mother Suzie joked that they thought the parade was for him. Fifteen-year old Sarah said that the family decided to come the moment the team won the Super Bowl.

On Broadway in front of City Hall, Giants fans are behind barricades throwing rolls of toilet paper across the street to one another. Boos for the person who drops it. Chants of "Go Giants," starting in anticipation of parade.

Lydia Ramsaran is a child caregiver who works a block away from the parade route but, in her blue No. 17 Plaxico Burress jersey, the 30-year old Manhattanite could not get through the sidewalk with her stroller and had to turn back. "It's okay. I still feel the spirit," Ramsaran said.
