Add Islanders center John Tavares to the list of high-profile stars headed overseas to play in Europe during the lockout.

The 21-year-old alternate captain will join Bern of the Swiss-A league, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com.

Tavares, the first overall pick in the 2009 NHL draft, will play alongside Islanders teammate Mark Streit with Streit's hometown club.

The All-Star pivot led the Islanders last season with 31 goals and 51 assists in 82 regular-season games last season.
