Rangers recall Ferriero

The Rangers have recalled recently-acquired forward Benn Ferriero in advance of Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs at Madison Square Garden, the team announced.

Ferriero was picked up in a minor-league deal with the Penguins that sent forward Chard Kolarik back in exchange for the 25-year-old winger.

The Boston College product had four goals and 14 assists in 34 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins before joining the Connecticut Whale.

Assuming he plays Saturday, Ferriero will make his Rangers debut, and his first appearance in an NHL game since March 20, 2012. Ferriero spent half the season with the Sharks in 2011-12.
