Kreider out with ankle injury

The hits just keep coming for Rangers forward Chris Kreider.

After struggling through the first three games of the season and drawing some fair but harsh criticism from coach John Tortorella, the 21-year-old winger was scratched Thursday against Philadelphia.

Now it appears he will miss even more time.

Kreider is out for Saturday's game with a bone-chip in his ankle, revealed by an MRI he underwent Friday. It is not immediately clear how severe the injury is or how long he will be sidelined.

With Kreider out, recently-recalled Benn Ferriero will make his Rangers debut. Arron Asham, who missed the last two games with a mild groin strain, will join him on the fourth line.

Defenseman Matt Gilroy and Stu Bickel will be healthy scratches.

Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist gets the nod against the Leaf; he'll be making his fifth straight start.
