Tavares back on scoresheet after OT win

Islanders forward John Tavares, named the NHL's first star last week, found himself back onto the scoresheet following the team's 4-3 overtime win against Montreal Thursday night.

The 22-year-old center, held without a point in the previous two games, chipped in with two assists in his team's comeback victory over the Habs at Bell Centre.

Tavares, who is now fourth in the league in scoring with 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists), picked up a helper on Matt Moulson's power-play goal in the second period and earned a secondary assist on defenseman Thomas Hickey's overtime game-winner (that deciding goal was Hickey's first in the NHL, by the way).

Before his two-game stretch without a point, Tavares had registered nine points in the previous five games.

Tavares and the Islanders travel to Buffalo to face the slumping Sabres on Saturday. Both teams have posted identical (and dismal ) 3-7-0 records in the last ten games.
