Injured goaltender Martin Brodeur returned to practice with the Devils Monday, skating with the team for the first time since missing 12 games with a back injury that is reportedly a "pinched nerve."

According to both the Newark Star-Ledger and The Bergen Record, Brodeur may be back in the lineup as soon as Tuesday to back up Johan Hedberg in the team's clash against the Rangers in Newark.

Brodeur also told reporters it is possible he will be available to start Thursday's game against the Hurricanes in Carolina.

The 40-year-old future Hall of Famer sustained the injury in pre-game warm-ups back on February 24th; since then, Hedberg has made 12 consecutive starts.
