Rangers deal Christian Thomas

July, 2, 2013
With three days before free agency begins and the Rangers with little cap room to do much of anything, the team swapped prospects with Montreal Tuesday, sending Christian Thomas to the Canadiens in exchange for forward Danny Kristo.

The 23-year-old Kristo, a second-round pick in 2008, finished with 26 goals for University of North Dakota last season to lead the Western College Hockey Association and finished second in the conference with 52 points. He played nine games for Montreal's AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Thomas, a former top prospect within the Rangers organization, finished with 19 goals and 35 points in in 73 games with the AHL's Connecticut Whale.
