McDonagh agrees to six-year extension

The New York Rangers have locked up one of their brightest young stars, agreeing to terms on a six-year extension with restricted free-agent defenseman Ryan McDonagh.

The total value of the new deal is worth $28.2 million, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com, and comes with an annual cap charge of $4.7 million.
