Clowe leaves game with 'lower-body injury'

NEWARK, N.J. -- Devils forward Ryane Clowe left Thursday's game against the Islanders in the first period with what the team says is a "lower-body injury." He did not return to the game.

The 30-year-old Clowe, who inked a five-year $24.25 million deal with the Devils in free agency this summer, has not been the picture of health in the last year.

Clowe, who was traded to New York from San Jose at the trade deadline, was limited to just 12 games with the Rangers last season because of multiple concussions.

The Devils are already without another veteran forward in their lineup; Jaromir Jagr suffered a lower-body injury during the first day of training camp and has not played since.
