No harm in shaking things up when things are already going this badly.

The Rangers, now 2-5-0 after Saturday's shutout loss to the Devils, have recalled forwards Chris Kreider and Brandon Mashinter from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL.

If there's any time for Kreider to dazzle the coaching staff, this is it. The Rangers can use all the help they can get offensively, and Kreider has the speed and skills to make an impact. Whether he can sustain any semblance of consistency will be the biggest question facing the young prospect.

As expected, the Rangers recalled goaltender Cam Talbot. Talbot, who will take over the backup job for the recently-retired Martin Biron, made 39 saves in the Wolf Pack's 3-2 win over Portland Saturday night.
