It's been a busy day for the Rangers.
The Rangers added coveted center Brad Richards to their roster, but also have pulled off a trade and watched defenseman Matt Gilroy leave for the Lightning. Gilroy had been with the Rangers for the past two seasons, scoring three goals and adding 11 points this past year, after signing with them as an undrafted free agent in 2009.
The Rangers also acquired Nashville forward Andreas Thuresson from Nashville for forward Brodie Dupont. Thuresson played 76 games for the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) last season and scored 14 goals and added 38 assists. He played in 25 games with Nashville the past two seasons.
Dupont played 72 games for the Rangers' AHL affiliates last season. He was a third-round pick in the 2005 draft. The trade is not one that should have much of an effect on the Rangers this season.
