Hunter accepts tryout with LA Kings

9/13/2011

Former Islanders winger Trent Hunter, who was traded to the Devils in July and bought out by New Jersey soon after, will attend camp with the LA Kings on a tryout basis, a source confirmed to ESPN.com

The 31-year-old Red Deer, Alberta native was shipped to New Jersey earlier this summer in a deal that brought veteran Brian Rolston and his much-needed $5.062 million cap hit to the Islanders.

Hunter, a two-time 20-goal scorer who played seven-plus seasons for the Islanders, was limited to only 17 games last year with a season-ending knee surgery.
