DiPietro to make Florida trip

Goaltender Rick DiPietro, who suffered a concussion last week, will make the team's trip to South Florida today, the team announced. The Islanders play the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday and the Florida Panthers Saturday.

DiPietro sustained the injury after taking a puck off the facemask during practice last Wednesday and was ruled out indefinitely.

The 30-year-old netminder skated for the first time Monday, an indication to coach Jack Capuano that the concussion wasn't too severe.

"That's a good sign, for sure," Capuano said.

Al Montoya played the first three games for the Islanders. DiPietro was slated to start Saturday's contest against the Rangers, but Evgeni Nabokov made his Islanders debut in his place.
