Rangers defenseman Michael Sauer was diagnosed with a concussion and has been characterized as day to day, coach John Tortorella told reporters following Wednesday’s practice.
The 24-year-old Sauer has a goal and two assists in 19 games for New York this season. He missed five games earlier in the season with a right shoulder strain.
He suffered the concussion in the third period of Monday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs after taking a hard hit from defenseman Dion Phaneuf.
