Could Steve Downie be hearing from NHL sheriff Brendan Shanahan soon?

The 24-year-old defenseman was perched atop the Lightning bench when Artem Anisimov's colorful goal celebration set off a heated brawl at 13:23 of the second, but he quickly hopped off to charge Ansimov during the stoppage.

Coach John Tortorella was informed by on-ice officials that they missed it, but video replays did not.

Jumping the bench during an illegal line change warrants an automatic ten-game suspension, but under rule 70.2 he could still face supplementary discipline even if the change was deemed legal. The league's Department of Player Safety will likely review whether the substitution was made for Downie's fellow defenseman Brett Connolly after the goal. Video replays show Connolly at the bench with his back turned to the ice as Downie jumped off.

Downie received two minutes for roughing and a ten-minute misconduct for his tussle with Anisimov.
