Depleted on defense, the Devils have recalled Peter Harrold from Albany of the American Hockey League, the team announced Monday morning.
The 28-year-old defenseman has one goal, 11 assists, 26 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating in 41 games for Albany this season. Harrold was signed as a free agent after spending the past three seasons with the Los Angeles Kings.
Harrold's arrival comes on the heels of yet another injury to the Devils' back end.
Already without Andy Greene (foot), Swedish blue-liner Henrik Tallinder is expected to miss up to eight weeks with acute thrombophlebitis in his lower left leg.
