After missing almost two months with a separated right shoulder, Rangers defenseman Steve Eminger will likely make his return Sunday against Philadelphia.
According to coach John Tortorella, Eminger has been medically cleared to play. Tortorella would not commit to dressing Eminger in Sunday's matinee against the Flyers but all signs indicate he will.
The Rangers sent defenseman Jeff Woywitka and winger Wojtek Wolski on AHL conditioning stints Thursday and further pared down their roster Friday, when they traded center Erik Christensen and a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2013 to the Minnesota Wild. Those three moves whittled the roster to 22, which allows the team to activate Eminger in advance of Sunday's game (the active roster limit is 23).
The 28-year-old Eminger, who was playing well before suffering the injury in December, has two goals, two assists and a plus-2 rating in 30 games for the Rangers this season. Assuming Eminger plays, sixth defenseman Stu Bickel will sit.
