Isles make trade with Bruins

March, 20, 2012
The trade deadline has passed -- meaning no player acquired past February 27 is playoff-eligible -- but the Islanders made a minor move Tuesday to acquire defenseman Yury Alexandrov from Boston in exchange for future considerations.

The 23-year-old Russian, a Bruins second-round pick in 2006, appeared in 66 games for the AHL Providence Bruins last year, but elected to play back home in Russia's Kontinental Hockey League this season.

Alexandrov (6-0, 185), has two goals and two assists in 23 games for Omsk Avangard this season.
