With starting goaltender Evgeni Nabokov injured, Bridgeport's Kevin Poulin was recalled on an emergency basis by the Islanders Wednesday.
Less than a week after signing a one-year contract extension with the
Islanders, Nabokov was forced from Tuesday's game against Pittsburgh with a lower-body injury.
Nabokov left the game at the beginning of the third period and was replaced by backup Al Montoya.
The 36-year-old Russian netminder agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth $2.75 million last Wednesday.
