The Islanders' season will come to a halt in eight days -- the fifth straight year they'll miss the playoffs -- but forward Josh Bailey can head into the summer with some confidence.
The 22-year-old center, who has fought through peaks and valleys throughout his first three seasons with the Islanders, has elevated his game of late, recording eight points in a back-to-back set against the Penguins this week.
Playing on the wing with linemates Frans Nielsen and Kyle Okposo, Bailey finished with two goals and three assists for a career-high five points in the team's 5-3 win against the Penguins Thursday. The Bowmanville, Ontario native also chipped in with three assists in the Isles' 5-3 win over Pittsburgh Tuesday.
Bailey, who has 13 goals and 18 assists in 75 games this season, has a six-game point streak heading into the final week of play.
