The Islanders were officially eliminated from playoff contention with a 6-3 loss to the Bruins on Long Island on Saturday afternoon.
The Isles have not made the playoffs since the 2006-07 campaign, and will finish in last place in the Atlantic Division for the fifth straight season.
The Isles came in having won five of six. They got to within 4-3 with 5:07 left after P.A. Parenteau notched his 18th goal of the season and second of the game, but Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci scored 24 seconds apart 1:26 later to put any thoughts of a comeback to rest.
