Soon-to-be unrestricted free agent PA Parenteau suffered an ankle sprain in the Islanders' 5-4 win against Winnipeg Thursday.
Parenteau, who has 18 goals and a career-high 49 assists, left the game during the second period and did not return.
Although the Islanders have interest in bringing back the offensively-skilled right winger, contract discussions were tabled near the trade deadline with the Islanders still trying to compete for a playoff spot.
They have since been eliminated, their fifth straight season of missing the post-season.
