Kanata, Ontario -- In terms of supplementary discipline, this Rangers-Senators set seems to be the series that keeps on giving -- or taking, more accurately.
In the latest round of punishment, the league slapped Senators' tough guy Zenon Konopka with a $2,500 fine for "verbal abuse" directed toward a Rangers player who was conducting a live television interview during pre-game warm-ups Saturday. The Senators were also fined $10,000 for the incident.
Heading into Game 3 Monday night, both clubs will be without players following a nasty affair in Game 2 at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers' Carl Hagelin received a three-game ban for his elbow on Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson, while Ottawa's Matt Carkner was suspended for one match following his beating of Brian Boyle.
