Rangers, Devils and Isles get to work

By Katie Strang

Hockey is back!

After a bitter, gut-wrenching lockout that lasted for 113 days, the NHL and NHLPA reached a tentative agreement in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Schedules have yet to be released -- that is unlikely to happen until ratification makes the deal official -- but players flocked to their respective clubs Monday to hit the ground running on what will be a whirlwind, compressed schedule.

Although starting sooner has not been ruled out, next Saturday, Jan. 19, appears to be the most likely starting date for the regular season, which would allow for a 48-game schedule.

For a breakdown of the terms of the new ( but still tentative) CBA, check out my colleague Pierre LeBrun's analysis here.

We'll have a roundup of questions facing each team shortly, and look for season previews to roll out starting on Wednesday.
