Devils' offense hits its stride
By Mike Hume
Now that you've devoured the top factors to watch in tonight's rivalry clash with the Rangers, just a quick hit for a little more pregame literature. ESPN's Craig Custance checked in with Devils' bench boss Peter DeBoer on New Jersey's (suddenly) scalding-hot attack. ESPN Insider subscribers can check out the post here.
Perhaps most intriguing is the discussion of Ilya Kovalchuk's transition to the right side from the left wing. Last season, the attempt to move Kovalchuk was an unmitigated disaster. But this season, it seems the staff has managed to make it work.
From the post:
"There were some growing pains, there were rumblings it wasn't working," DeBoer said. "They didn't have a lot of success early but the chances were there and the opportunities."
Guess there was smoke from the start, but now there's fire, and the Devils' offense is clicking like many imagined it could when they inked Kovalchuk to his long-term deal.
