Gordie Howe hat trick for Henrique
By Katie Strang
Devils center Adam Henrique has surpassed expectations in many ways this season -- he trails Ryan Nugent-Hopkins by only one point on the list in the league's rookie scoring leaders -- and he continued to do so last night in the Devils 6-3 loss to Calgary.
The 21-year-old forward, who figures to be one of the leading candidates for the NHL's Calder Trophy, added to his 34-point rookie campaign with a surprising Gordie Howe hat trick -- a goal, an assist and a fight.
After a hard hit on Jarome Iginla in the first, Henrique accepted the challenge to drop the gloves against the well-respected Flames captain at 13:53 of the first. It was his first professional fight.
Henrique also tallied a shorthanded goal and added a helper on Ilya Kovalchuk's 16th of the season in the second period.
