Rangers front-runners for Nash?

By Katie Strang

Are the Rangers front-runners to acquire coveted forward Rick Nash?

With Columbus suddenly deciding to place their 27-year-old captain on the trading block earlier this week, a handful of teams emerged as suitors but ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun thinks the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings have the most realistic chance in landing the star winger.

On Thursday, the Columbus Dispatch reported that the Rangers are among six squads on Nash's list of teams for whom he'd accept a trade; Nash has a no-movement clause in his eight-year, $62.4 million contract that he'd have to waive before being dealt. Los Angeles, Boston, San Jose, Toronto and Vancouver are reportedly the other five teams on Nash's approved list.

It should also be noted that Columbus Blue Jackets assistant general manager Chris MacFarland was in attendance for the Rangers' 4-2 loss to Chicago Thursday and the team's 3-0 win against the Bruins Tuesday in Boston. The Rangers host the Blue Jackets Sunday at Madison Square Garden.
