Battered on the blue line and beyond, the Rangers have recalled defenseman Tim Erixon from the AHL's Connecticut Whale.
The 21-year-old defenseman, who has played 13 games with New York this year, arrives with the Rangers battling several injuries. Although captain Ryan Callahan could return Saturday against Colorado, defenseman Michael Del Zotto continues to fight through a nagging hip injury. Fellow blue-liner Steve Eminger missed practice Friday with an undisclosed injury.
Up front, the Rangers also appear to be without top-six forward Artem Anisimov, who suffered a left shoulder injury in the team's 5-2 loss to Pittsburgh Thursday.
Erixon has three goals, 30 assists and a plus-4 rating in 43 games for the Whale this season.
