Zuccarello to undergo surgery

By Katie Strang

Injured forward Mats Zuccarello will undergo surgery Monday to repair a fractured left wrist.

The Rangers lost the diminutive Norwegian forward Friday in the team's 4-1 loss to the Sabres; Zuccarrello sustained the injury while blocking Jordan Leopold's shot in the first period and did not return.

According to the team, Zuccarello is out "indefinitely" although it is possible he could return should the Rangers make a deep post-season run. The 24-year-old winger, recalled from the AHL's Connecticut Whale, had two goals and one assist in his most recent stint with the team.

With Zuccarello's absence, veteran Ruslan Fedotenko is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday against Minnesota Wild.
