The Rams requested and received permission to interview Jets exec Joey Clinkscales for their GM vacancy, a league source confirmed.

Clinkscales is the Jets' vice president of college scouting and has been with the organization for 17 years. He basically runs the draft, coordinating the scouts and presiding over the team's pre-draft meetings. Clinkscales, assistant GM Scott Cohen and senior personnel exec Terry Bradway are the front-office types that GM Mike Tannenbaum leans on the most when making decisions.

The Rams finished 2-14 and recently fired their GM, Bill Devaney. They're courting Jeff Fisher as their head coach and it's quite likely he's seeking control over personnel, so it remains to be seen whether the Rams will have a traditional GM -- i.e. the guy with final say.

101 ESPN in St. Louis first reported the Rams' interest in Clinkscales.

Also, Hue Jackson was reportedly fired by the Raiders. As mentioned here Monday, don't be surprised if the Jets show interest in Jackson as an offensive assistant (coordinator?). He worked with Rex Ryan in Baltimore.
