With free agency set to begin Tuesday at 4 p.m., the Jets have accelerated talks with NT Sione Pouha, according to sources. They're trying to sign him to a long-term deal before he hits the open market, and there are strong indications they'll get it done.

Pouha, a three-year starter, is the team's top priority among their 11 unrestricted free agents.

In other developments, the Jets are shopping RT Wayne Hunter, according to the New York Daily News. This comes one week after GM Mike Tannenbaum said he expects Hunter to remain their starting right tackle. Hunter's 2012 salary, $2.45 million, is guaranteed, so it won't be easy to find a taker. The Jets would look foolish if they cut him because they missed a chance last month to release him before the salary became guaranteed.
