Mark Sanchez’s job as the Jets’ starting quarterback got a lot harder with the arrival of Tim Tebow, according to Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger.

"It’s going to be tough, I feel bad for Sanchez," Roethlisberger told Bruce Beck of NBC New York Friday on the field before the Yankees’ home opener.

The Sanchez-Tebow dynamic has created a buzz around the NFL. Even though Sanchez is the clear-cut starter, the Jets have said repeatedly, the trade for the popular Tebow has fueled speculation about a possible quarterback controversy.

Roethlisberger said he expects fans to be screaming for Tebow as soon as the first game.

"He’s a guy that’s a franchise-type quarterback, they pay him the money to be here," said Roethlisberger, alluding to Sanchez’s recent three-year, $40 million contract extension.

"They have a lot of faith in him. I think he’s a good quarterback, then you bring a guy in the fans are going to be cheering for. The fans are going to be chanting ‘Tebow!’ probably from the first game. I feel bad for a franchise quarterback like that."
