What it means: This was a Ground-and-Pound pick. Ganaway has fullback size, but he was tremendously productive in Robert Griffin III's offense. He rushed for 1,547 yards, 21 touchdowns and a 6.2 average last season. He won MVP honors in the Alamo Bowl, rushing for 200 yards and five touchdowns. He's a downhill runner, hard to bring down once he gets his shoulders squared. He isn't going to make too many people miss (a 4.66 time in the 40), but he can break tackles. The concerns are that he was a one-year wonder in college (started only one season) and he had to miss the scouting combine because of a shoulder injury. Ganaway has football in his bloodlines; his uncle is former NFL linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.

How he fits in the offensive scheme: The Jets have now picked a running back in four straight drafts. His north-south running style will fit into the run-oriented attack. He also could emerge as a short-yardage/goal-line back. Ganaway has experience in an option offense, and that could come in handy, considering the Jets are planning to deploy Tim Tebow in the Wildcat.

Projected impact: Ganaway's skill set is similar to that of starter Shonn Greene, so he'll have a hard time finding a role in the offense. He's not known as a pass catcher, so forget about a third-down role. He'll be used primarily on special teams. This could be a future pick for the Jets, because Greene is entering the final year of his contract.
