Former Jets WR Plaxico Burress, continuing his looking-for-employment tour Thursday with an appearance on ESPN's "First Take," believes Tim Tebow could replace Mark Sanchez by midseason as the Jets' starting quarterback.
"It's a possibility, you can't rule it out," said Burress, currently a free agent. "I mean, they did bring him in for a reason. I think he's going to make Mark Sanchez a better quarterback. When they bring in somebody at your position, he's going to compete for it."
Clearly, Burress doesn't think much of Sanchez's ability as a quarterback. Late last season, he told friends he was no fan of Sanchez. Asked if Sanchez can lead the Jets to a championship, Burress paused. Finally, he said, "I think the defense will. I think they definitely have a Super Bowl defense."
Burress didn't sound too high on Tebow, either.
"I do not doubt he's a great person," he said. "He's a great competitor. I've seen him win games in the fourth quarter. But as a starting wide receiver in the NFL, you walk out there on Sundays, you line up ... that's not Peyton Manning back there."
Burress lobbied for a job with the Panthers, but they reportedly have no interest.

I'm wondering if Jay Z makes it to Cortland this summer for training camp. I'm sure he'd be a big hit at Doug's Fish Fry. #Jets
