Veteran S LaRon Landry, unable to participate in offseason workouts while rehabbing a foot injury from last season, was placed on the physically-unable-to-perform list, the Jets announced Monday. The move came as no surprise.

By rule, Landry can't practice until he's removed from the PUP list. To do that, he must pass the team physical and conditioning run.

The Jets have big plans for the former Redskin, whom they signed to a one-year, $3.5 million contract. Landry is expected to start, but he skipped most of the voluntary workouts and wasn't cleared to participate in last month's minicamp. The team is cautiously optimistic about his condition, claiming the goal is to get him ready for the regular season.

They also placed rookie LB Demario Davis (third-round pick) on the PUP list because he strained a hamstring during Monday's conditioning run. The Jets expect Davis to contribute immediately on defense, specifically in sub packages. He's listed as day-to-day.

Rookie WR Jordan White (foot surgery) and G Terrence Campbell (strained hamstring) also were put on PUP.
