CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Rex Ryan noted that the Jets ran the ball 22 straight times in team drills. With a new offense and a new focus, Ryan said the team needs to establish the run, but even he didn’t think it would happen quite so much. Later it was pointed out that Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow both went a disappointing 1-for-7 in team drills.
“I hope we can run the ball,” Ryan said.
Standouts: NT Damon Harrison, called “The Wrecking Ball.” OL Austin Howard, who arrived too heavy at OTAs but has slimmed back down for training camp.
Ryan also noted the running backs, a couple of whom took a pounding in pads, did a good job. Shonn Greene, Joe McKnight, Bilal Powell and Terrance Ganaway were named.
It’s officially a broken nose for tight end Josh Baker.
Ryan isn’t worried about CB Darrelle Revis’ hamstring tightness. Said it’s too early for that.
